I'm Lynn Wabwire, and my life's mission is to ensure that every senior receives the care, dignity, and support they deserve. For years, I've worked as a geriatric care nurse specialist and educator, providing home health care and teaching caregivers how to provide services with compassion, integrity, accountability, and excellence. But my journey didn't stop there. I became the Area Director of the Portland Maine Elder Care Council because I saw a pressing need in our state—too many families are struggling to find care solutions, and Maine like many other states lacks a clear, a one stop, accessible path to family caregiver support and long-term care planning.

Although most home care is provided by family, friends or volunteers, there is a growing trend in Maine to hire paid individuals or professionals to provide this care in the home. The hiring of care is prompted by a growing trend for traditional caregivers to be employed full-time and unable to offer much help or for family to live hundreds of miles away from the loved one and find it difficult to offer hands-on long-distance care.
Non-Medical Care Services In The Home
These providers represent a rapidly growing trend in Maine to allow people needing help with long term care to remain in their home or in the community instead of going to a care facility.
